Each September our kids go back to school and all of us driving on the roads of Alberta have to remember “Flashing red means stop”. The Province has a media campaign to get drivers thinking again, and that is good. Distractions are everywhere. People have things on their mind, they are late for work or they just had a disagreement with someone. It doesn’t matter. When you get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle it is your responsibility to make sure everyone around you is safe. You cannot control other drivers so worry about what you can control. Be aware. Be alert. Slow for buses and vehicles stopped at cross-walks. And most of all remember “Flashing red means STOP!” Most accidents can be prevented. Do your part.
